Dont Buy

Dont buy this app. It is completely useless? very slow (need to "compute" each inquiry, needs an internet connection, no proper chords symboles...not written buy a musician I would guess)

Nice

Could be offline; but its didatic and helps.

Bad one

For real: wolframalpha can do better than this! This app is worth no dime, sound works in few cases only, the possibilities you have to learn are extremely rare, its only a bad copy of the websites features! Dont buy before there was a major update!

Poor app

I am really disappointed. Unintuitive, expansive. Top much clicks until you get the information. Takes too much time until it loads the sample Sound. Boring userinterface.

Fakeapp

May be a Fake! Absolute no function! Shows only the startscreen, thats it. 3GS / iOS 5.0.1

Works not offline

Cannot understand why this App cannot work offline - Its a pity

An App Without a Purpose

I suppose if I had a school project where I needed to compute an interval or a triad or a chord, and I never saw a piece of sheet music before, this App might work. For anything else it is too busy computing things to be of any value. Its slow and a kludge. I want to learn intervals for choral singing. I want to choose a key, play two notes and have the program tell me what that interval is. Obviously, not this app.

Disappointed.

Menus are cumbersome and app performance is slow. Overall UI is clunky. The app contains very little data, so its constantly downloading info and "computing". Its a solid idea, just poorly executed.

Wolfram Music Theory

This software company really requires to figure things out. 1) content to be offline availble 2) Cord progression does not show keys and should 3) Idea is nice but, absolutely consumes lots of data usage. More comments would follow as I just bought it to see and review it.

poor

Why do I have to click the compute button for each ? also it takes so much time to get the reaction. I can not stand it....

Good but too much basic

Very very basic concepts of music theory. Hopefully we can get more in future update

Okay.

Its an okay app. Its basically just consolidating all things music from wolfram alpha into a single app. As a beginner to music theory, its kinda handy. But not a must buy.

Have it compatible for iOS 3!

Bleh....

Wolfram has been an interesting supplier for years, but this one does not measure up during initial tests. S-L-O-W, for starters. Clearly a low poriority computation on Wolframs servers, I experienced several connection time-outs awaiting results for mundane queries on Saturday evening, such as C diminished triad display. As mentioned in other reviews, its just a skin for connecting to Wolframs computation engine. I want to use this in lessons and rehearsals, but its nowhere near fast enough. Another thing I could learn to dislike intensely is this: you set up a query, you press Compute, you wait, the result comes back, its nice, but nowhere in the result is there an indication of what (chord, interval, scale) you asked for. Labeled results are a pretty darn basic scientific and musical behavior, especially when it takes 15-30 seconds to receive the results. I expect that Wolfram will need to upgrade this app in the near future. Wait befor buying. iOS 4.0.2 - iPhone 3GS - lightly loaded WiFi

Way too slow

And not very user friendly.

Great app

Nice app, but I wouldve liked to see a bass clef representation in the calculation. Im a native trombone player and I read bass clef normally, so it would be a lot easier to have that rather than transposing treble clef. Overall its a fantastic application though!

Wanting more functionality

I wish all intervals did not start at the middle c octave, I wish you could lower the octave and the look at different intervals.

Shallow Information

This app is amazingly non music specific. Definitions of terms are not specific to music and do not include musical notation examples...very general. For example, the scales search does not include the Melodic Minor form...one of the great 48 every musician learns....hmmmm....Dont buy, wait for something written by music instructors.

Meh.

Not much here yet, especially when compared to other Wolfram apps. The ability to play notes and scales is a nice addition though.

Not very helpful...

Most information is nonmusic specific and this app really has no "theory" which was I was looking for. Not worth 1.99 for the scales--which is more or less its only good feature.
